About Hilo
Hilo is a smart home service from Hydro-Québec. It connects to devices like smart thermostats and automates them to cut power use during winter peaks, the coldest moments when electricity demand across Quebec is highest. The goal is to ease pressure on the grid without leaving homes cold.
It suits Quebec homeowners who heat with electricity and want a simple way to manage energy use. Once set up, Hilo can lower heating during short peak periods and bring it back afterward. Winter is when it matters most, so fall is a good time to look into it, before the first deep freeze arrives.
