You may be familiar with Sho-Dan, one of Montreal’s trendiest sushi restaurants (if you haven’t been, we highly recommend it). What you may not know is that Sho-Dan owner, Romeo Pham, is also a talented jewelry designer. If sushi and jewelry seem like apples and oranges to you, that isn’t quite the case for Romeo, who sees both vocations as art forms. Not surprising from someone with a degree in Fine Arts!
Romeo J. is the creation of Romeo (Chinh Pham) and his wife Suzie Durand. They create high-end jewelry for both men and women using natural materials such as Tahitian pearls, precious metals and various leathers. The result is truly unique, eye-catching pieces that are currently available through six Quebec jewelers, one Ontario jeweler, and through the Romeo J. website.
Beyond gorgeous designs
Most of their current designs are necklaces and bracelets, many of which are unisex. You can find vibrant, trendy pieces in a variety of colours, or opt for something classic like this black crocodile bracelet featuring a single Tahitian pearl and sterling silver elements. It’s one of those versatile pieces that can bring an edgy-chic vibe to a simple jeans and t-shirt combo, work attire or even a night-out look (it would also make an excellent gift).
Beyond gorgeous designs, Romeo also believes in creating for a cause. This year, the company created a bracelet exclusively for Procure, a charitable organization dedicated to the fight against prostate cancer. The sales enabled Romeo J. to donate $1395 to Procure, and they plan to release a second exclusive design for the same purpose in 2019.
The team also donates pieces for auction to help children around the world through Terre des hommes Canada (TDH).

They advocate for policies that support children’s rights and execute projects with tangible benefits to children through humanitarian aid. It is an organization close to Romeo’s heart, as they once helped him come to Canada as a child refugee fleeing Vietnam.
