The Quartier des Spectacles secret
Most major free festivals happen in the Quartier des Spectacles (around Place des Arts metro). It includes Place des Festivals (10,000+ standing capacity), Esplanade Tranquille, and the Promenade des Artistes. From mid-June to mid-August, there’s free programming every single night.

What is the biggest festival in Montreal?

When is Osheaga 2026?
Osheaga 2026 is scheduled for the first weekend of August (typically July 31 – August 2). The lineup is usually announced in early March, and 3-day passes sell out by early May. Hold area pricing starts around $425 for general admission.
Is Just for Laughs free?
Partly. Just for Laughs Montreal includes free street performances at the Quartier des Spectacles throughout the week, plus ticketed gala shows ($60–$200) at Place des Arts and the Théâtre Saint-Denis. The free comedy circus zone is family-friendly.
What is Igloofest?
Igloofest is an outdoor electronic music festival held in January and February at the Old Port of Montreal. Crowds dance in sub-zero temperatures wearing snowsuits. A nightly pass is about $50. It runs four weekends, Thursday–Saturday nights.
