COLOURFUL PAINTINGS OF MONTREAL HOUSES AND NEIGHBORHOODS
Montreal artist and illustrator Michelle Darwin draws and paints portraits of Montreal neighbourhoods, laneways, houses, and buildings. She founded her company, Painted Stories as a creative house for her hand-crafted paintings and illustrations.
Based in the Plateau area of Montreal, Michelle loves to wander local neighbourhoods looking for interesting sights to capture in her paintings and drawings. She recently began a series of playful illustrations of Montreal houses and hopes to spend the warmer months creating portraits of local gardens and green laneways. In addition to a range of personal works – many for sale as originals or prints – she also runs a business, Painted Stories, through which she creates custom artwork for clients.
Painted Stories is based around the idea that custom paintings of favourite city place or home are a perfect way to remember, celebrate and cherish the places that are important to us. Michelle loves working with clients who are looking to express the personality of a special place through a custom painting. Custom paintings are often inspired by an aspect of a client’s personal or family history, a celebration of a current milestone, or an important life event – such as selling a family home, a wedding, anniversary, or an illness in the family. Her illustrations make wonderful, heartfelt and truly unique gifts for someone special and are sure to be cherished for years to come.

While houses make up the bulk of Michelle’s subjects, she’s more than happy to create portraits of any building or place that has personal meaning: a library, wedding venue, neighborhood, cottage, garden, city landmark, church, or shop.
