The Easiest Way To Start Growing Indoors Today
Grobo developed a hydroponic, automated Grow Box designed to make growing easy. Grobo has automated all the difficult aspects of growing high-quality plants indoors to enable everyone to enjoy the benefits of homegrown plants.
This company was founded in 2014 by Bjorn Dawson, a mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Waterloo. Bjorn was determined to create a product that would allow individuals to grow produce all year round while simplifying the process.
Grobo currently offers two Grow Boxes; the Grobo Solid and the Grobo Premium. Both grow boxes are the same size and provide a sleek design that will fit into any home. The only difference between the two units is the door. The Grobo Solid has a metal door that is perfect for someone who does not want anything flashy. The Grobo Premium utilizes its patented fluid glass design. This glass is opaque the majority of the time, but with the tap of a button in the Grobo App, it goes translucent so you can view your plant without even opening the door.
Both units offer automated nutrient dosing, pH balancing, and light spectrum adjustments. The Grobo Grow Box connects via Wi-Fi to your smartphone so you can monitor your plant’s progress and do the weekly maintenance. The average user can expect to spend 10 minutes a week draining and filling the unit. This is also a very straightforward process that’s been simplified with the app.
Key Features
The Grobo Water Chiller keeps the water in your Grobo cool and at a consistent temperature. Plants grow better in slightly cooler water as cool water provides more dissolved oxygen, preventing root rot. This water chiller is great for someone who lives in a climate that is very warm, or where the temperatures fluctuate greatly between day and night. This water cooler can also be used in other hydroponic setups or even aquariums, giving the user many possibilities.
Grobo Fresh is an odor eliminator designed to actually eliminate odors, not just mask them. Grobo Fresh utilises terpenes, a compound found in many plants that are often responsible for the scent of a plant. Many terpenes have antifungal and antibacterial properties, so when they are released into the air they actually cleanse the home environment. This allows Grobo Fresh to destroy unwanted odors while leaving behind a mild, fresh scent. This product is great for users who grow cannabis, however this product also eliminates other pesky scents such as pet smells and other home odors. It is a great and healthier alternative to those who like to use scent plug ins or sprays.
Grobo CO2+ is an all-natural CO2 generator and it’s one of their most exciting new products. Plants grow faster when exposed to higher concentrations of CO2 because plants create their own energy using a process called photosynthesis. When plants are surrounded by increased CO2 levels, they can photosynthesise faster, creating more energy, which allows them to grow faster. Many experienced plant growers will use CO2 generators to promote larger fruits and flowers, increasing the size of their yield. CO2+ is unique because it’s all natural, which makes it very safe for in-home use. This product utilizes the process of fermentation to encourage CO2 development. Many CO2 generators require propane and other equipment that can be potentially harmful if the user is not knowledgeable about the equipment but with CO2+ all you need is warm water. Simply fill the bottle with warm water up to the fill line, give it a shake, and place it in your grow space with the cap open. It really is that easy.

Key Features
1. Automated Nutrient Dosing
This is a feature that makes the Grobo Grow Boxes stand out from the other grow boxes offered on the market. Their team of engineers developed a dosing system that automatically provides the plant with the exact amount of nutrients it needs. Within the Grobo App, you can select a specific Grow Recipe. These Grow Recipes are all unique. The amount and type of each nutrient are catered to the specific plant you have chosen to grow. Grobo offers over 3000 grow recipes, so there’s a high chance they have a recipe for exactly what you want to grow. Their automated nutrient dosing saves you a lot of effort. First, there is no need to research what plants need! New growers spend countless hours trying to decipher what plants need to thrive. With Grobo, that’s already resolved. Second, there’s no trial and error. New growers often follow what the nutrient package instructions suggest, however that’s not always the best. Keep in mind the instructions on a nutrient package are rather vague, and not plant-species specific. This can result in your plant getting too much, or too little nutrients. While trial and error can be fun if you’re an experiment-loving individual, it can get tiring and frustrating over time. Grobo allows you to skip this entire process.2. Automated pH Balancing
Along with the automated nutrient dosing, the Grobo Grow Boxes also automatically monitor and adjust the pH of the water. pH is incredibly important when growing plants. If the pH of the water or soil is too acidic or basic, the plant cannot uptake the nutrients it needs to grow. Nutrients are the most “available” at a neutral to slightly acidic pH. When the growing media is outside of that range, the nutrients are locked out leaving the plant hungry. This is why Grobo’s Grow Boxes test the pH of the water tank multiple times an hour and automatically adjust as needed to keep the plant happy and healthy. No need to stress over figuring out how to use pH meters, or learn the best way to keep the pH within range, that’s all automatically done for the user.3. 6-Spectrum LED Lights
Grobo Grow Boxes come equipped with 6-spectrum LED lights. This means these grow lights provide 6 color wavelengths within the visible light spectrum. Plants growing outdoors benefit from changing color spectrums. In a temperate climate like Canada, plants are exposed to blue light in the spring. Blue light brings plants out of dormancy, and encourages vegatative growth, which is just the fancy term for growing more leaves and getting larger. As the season continues, plants are exposed to red light. Red light promotes flower growth as the season is ending and seeds need to be grown before it gets too cold. 6-spectrum LED lighting mimics this natural phenomenon. The Grobo Grow Recipes all have unique light settings that provide the plant with the ideal intensity and wavelength of light for it to flourish. Earlier in many recipes there’s more blue light to encourage the plant to grow large, then later in the recipes there’s more red light to promote flowering. The red light spectrum is what promotes your plant to grow high quality cannabis flowers, or delicious vegetables like tomatoes and peppers.Additional Products
Grobo has recently expanded their product line to continue making growing easy. Here are a few of their best selling new products: The Grobo Start is Grobo’s seed starter. This seed starter fits perfectly on your counter or desk and makes germinating seeds simple. This unit comes equipped with 2 different light modes, adjustable light height, and humidity domes to provide seedlings with extra humidity to increase their chances of germination. Some grobo users choose to start 3 seedlings in this unit and pick the strongest one to grow to maturity in their Grobo Grow Box. While the Grobo Start does not connect to WIFI like the Grow Boxes, you can still input the type of plant you are growing in the app. With a tap of a button in the app, you can seamlessly transfer your seedling from the Grobo Start into your Grobo Grow Box, transferring all the data about the plant. Other users use it separately to grow herbs or flowers to enjoy in their home. The Grobo Start makes for an awesome gift for a loved one who enjoys technology and plants.
