Improve your soft skills, get career tips from industry professionals and learn how best to prepare yourself for the future in the post-pandemic world with McGill’s free career event, PowerSkills.
PowerSkills was created in 2020 by McGill’s Career Advising and Transition Services (CATS) as a direct response to the drastic changes that Covid-19 brought to our workforce. CATS, whose mandate is to support professionals with lifelong career management skills and tools, aimed to help the people in need in our post-pandemic world.
The PowerSkills career summit was their answer to help people not get left behind and overcome new challenges when dealing with the adaptability of the new workforce.
Covid-19 accelerated the importance of soft skills in the job market and saw how increasingly vital they are to the changing job market. For those who don’t know, soft skills are skills that employers like to look for that are transferable from job to job. These can range from adaptability, work ethic, teamwork, time management and problem-solving, for example.
In addition, our post-pandemic era has changed how we work, communicate, and collaborate, which is why PowerSkills has become so effective in helping people adapt to the ever-changing market.
The first two editions (August 2020 and January 2021) of PowerSkills attracted more than 4,000 attendees from 50+ countries who engaged with interactive workshops, webinars, interviews and panel discussions and are now expecting a bigger turnout.
McGill University’s third edition of PowerSkills is now available from August 4th to August 7th, 2021. With renowned keynote speakers such as :
