Quebec Parks

Jacques-Cartier National Park sits 40 minutes north of Quebec City and contains one of the most dramatic glacial valleys in eastern Canada — a 550-metre-deep gorge cut into the Laurentian massif. It’s a year-round destination for paddling, hiking, fat biking, and one of Quebec’s premier dog-sledding experiences. About 3 hours from Montreal, this is a strong weekend trip.

Why Jacques-Cartier

The headline attraction is the Jacques-Cartier Valley — a sheer-walled river canyon with mountain walls towering above. Paddling the river is one of the iconic Quebec wilderness experiences. The park is well-equipped and family-friendly while still feeling remote.

How to Get There

From Montreal: Highway 40 East to Quebec City, then Highway 73 / 175 North to Stoneham–Tewkesbury. About 3 hours total. From Quebec City, ~40 minutes.
